Vintage RARE 1940's Packard Bell / Universal D20H microphone w stand Shure

  

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. Here's a unique and rare microphone with original stand you don't see very often.

You are looking at a 1940's era Packard Bell "Phonocord" dynamic microphone with period matching Universal P798 desk stand based on the slightly more common Universal D20H model. It should be stated that this microphone has been tested and has a non-working element though the mic comes with all it's original hardware.

This microphone has a very "War of The Worlds" deco vibe and was originally intended to be used as a general purpose microphone. The all metal body is built like a tank. It's quite heavy and has a satin chrome finish. The design is like no other mic of that era or since. The microphone was set at high impedance giving it a "rockabilly" tone but again, the mic no longer works.

It will still make a very nice display, repair or prop piece due to it's cosmetic condition which I would rate a true 8 on a scale of 1 - 10. As you can see in the detailed pictures provided there are typical lite signs of wear. A few small scratches and very lite pitting located mostly on the top head of the mic.

There are zero dents or fractures and the luster is very nice. Even the Packard Bell badge looks very good with just lite wear. There is good tension in the joint mechanism and the threading for the stand and cable are perfect. No cable is included but the original stand is.

MICROPHONE SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE.. The stand is a Universal P798 model with an all brass body and satin chrome finish. It makes for an extremely stable platform and has a bit of weight to it. It still has the original rubber bottom gasket to keep the stand in place and from scratching any surface it may rest on. A very nice example that really compliments the mic as well.

Appx 2 1/2 inches tall X 5 inches wide X 7 inches deep. The mic with stand are appx 12 inches tall X 5 inches wide and it weighs roughly 3 pounds.

If you demand rarity in your collection then this Packard Bell model might just do the trick. As with all my items for sale..
